[Green] Status of native Sp. garden

A big thank-you to all, especially Jim, George, and Roger! Our experience with this slope demonstrates why the DNR and even some environmental groups use herbicide to eradicate invasives, despite solarization eliminating the risk of runoff. Let's hope for a few warm, dry, windless days.

Vic, there are five or six pins in a box on my patio at 631 Second Street. The house is a two-flat, with my door behind the garage on the Sacra Via side of the building. There is also a bundle of plastic from the sections where the daffodils are.

I am back in town and can check other days this week. It sounds as if today is covered.

I am reporting in after a weekend of battling the wind-blown plastic. George and I responded on Saturday after word was out that much of the solarizing plastic had blown loose. We worked for about two hours putting back most of which had blown off. We exhausted the supply of anchor pins and had to buy more. Today, while wind storm #2 was in progress, Roger Kalter and I went there with 42 large plastic bottles filled with water and laid them all over the areas we could save, and we re-pinned much of it again. Feeling worn out and under time restraints we had to leave before all of the plastic was back on and secured. If any of you can spare a little time to continue the effort, we may still be able to get the solarization back on track. Jim G.
