[Green] Interns and Tiny Homes - the News from Blue Rock Station (June 2021)

Small is Beautiful...  

Sometimes life gives roses and that is the case with the arrival of intern Destiny Ebersole (Dame) from Michigan. Because we are all vaccinated, we've been able to have Destiny join us as an intern and her project is to finish the Tiny House.

Destiny has been busy drafting a complete plan for the home, and learning a lot about rammed earth tire pounding (exhausting) and managing projects. She could use some volunteers who are interested in helping install insulation, wash slate and other generally "fun" jobs.

If you are interested in volunteering - the “pay” consists of hard work, great lunches, a place to pitch a tent to stay overnight and joining the evening fireside conversation. Plus you might learn or expand some skills.

The next rose that life has handed us is intern Ricky Boebel from Columbus, Ohio. He is taking the lead to move the Happy Nest (an existing garden shed that had been converted to a sleeping cabin) nearer the other Tiny House and remodel it into a very very tiny house.

June 19th: Father's Day Tour make-up for people signed up for 2020.  (only open to those who signed up for tours in 2020 that were delayed due to Covid)

So Where is the Silver Lining?  

The silver lining right now is that we've had visitors.

We've also had dinner in a restaurant. We've had a dinner party. We've made plans that don't involve worrying about COVID19 (other than requiring all be vacinated).

And, we're continually reminded whenever we venture outside of the gates, that we really enjoy the peaceful bubble we've created here at Blue Rock Station.

A Note from Jay and Me:  

Each June we make plans for the next year.

One of our ideas is to create a new type of experience for BRS visitors that involves discussing a topic, sharing a meal, and a house concert afterwards.

The topic would likely be led by someone other then us, and the house concert would definitely be provided by someone besides us.
