[Green] I’m sorry to be neglecting you!

Dearest Green friends,
I’m sorry that I haven’t been actively participating in email discussions lately—or in the numerous projects we have underway. At work, my weekly staff meeting is on Tuesday mornings, so Tuesday morning is not a time I can help with the riverbank project. Evenings are challenging, too, since I work until 6, and then start fixing dinner….
My weekends have been busy of late, and if I had 39 boxes still to unpack as of my last report to you, let me update that to 37 still to go, although Tim has done a lot.
Yesterday I presented for The Castle’s History camp (Birds: Then and Now), which took a bit of research and prep time; on July 24, I’ll be presenting Birding By Ear (via Zoom) to a birding festival in Texas. At least I’ve given that talk before, but there’s always preparation. (I’ll have to focus more on the birds of the Southwest than I usually do). And all of that does not count as my job.
Re the solar bench and reapplying for the DuPont grant: It seems to me that odds are slim that we’d get funding again, since we haven’t spent much of the money we were awarded in the previous go-round, and we don’t have impressive photos to show of our completed projects. I suggest that we wait to apply for another grant until we can show off completed projects.
I will be in Rockport/Fulton, Texas, in late September; that’s not far from Houston. I am planning to fly there but I could drive instead. That’s crazy. I suppose that solar bench wouldn’t fit in my Prius, and renting a truck or van would probably cost as much as shipping the thing. Oh well.
Well, there you have my catch-up excuses and a little bit of input. Surely this crazy period will come to an end soon—maybe when I get back from Colombia in early August. Sheesh. (Not complaining about a free birding trip to Colombia, though!)
See you HERE at 12:30 on the third Sunday, whatever the date, for our next meeting.
Hugs to you all!
