Update: I walked down to the stump today. Must have been hallucinating; it was not a recent cut. What is left of the stump is completely hollow; the tree has been gone a while.

Hello, greenies,
At yesterday's meeting, Dawn mentioned seeing a tree cut down at the end of Knox Street. I walked down there today; the tree that has been removed was a Bradford pear that was not in good shape. They are invasive, short-lived trees with weak wood, and that one had been deteriorating for some time, with branches breaking off onto the sidewalk. In my mind, removing it was a good call. Another tree closer to the river in the same area has also been cut. I can't remember what it was, but the stump reveals that it was hollow inside and needed to come down as well.
