Very helpful  indeed, especially about the lack of reporting to the news media when there have been spills. Our assumption is that the USEPA is most interested in the issue of spills, leak, and discharges, particularly those that end up in the Ohio River.

1. There have been two (known) spills of fracking waste related to injection wells in Washington County, and neither were reported to the local news media. As concerned citizens, we want to know about such incidents. We care about how much was spilled and what was the composition of the spill. How are citizens to find out about such accidents, and how can we be assured that the cleanup was thorough to protect human health and the environment? Such reports ought to be published in local media. Or must we each, individually, request such information from the OEPA? 

2. We are concerned that Ohio has so many fracking wells, when nearby states have few. Is our geology somehow more structurally suitable for such toxic waste than Pennsylvania and West Virginia, or are those states more cautious than we are? 

3. Since Washington County has more injection wells than any other county in Ohio (or nearby states—combined (is that true?)) how can we, the citizens of this county, be confident that these wells are regularly and thoroughly inspected, and that human and ecosystem health are adequately protected?

4. It seems to me that the Ohio EPA and/or ODRN ought to make it easy for citizens to find out about injection wells near their homes, upstream from creaks, and elsewhere, and for us to verify that these wells are safe and thoroughly-maintained. 

5. Unless the state is trying to hide information about fracking wells and their potential threat, why doesn’t the state make information easily available to citizens who live nearby the wells?
