Thanks, Dawn. I will go prepared with trash bags. March is my month.

Subject: Heads up about sweet gum balls on the River Trail

Dear Green friends,

I’m not sure who has responsibility for sweeping the River Trail through East Muskingum Park during March, but warning: Sweet gum balls are falling like rain.

Tim and I swept the trail the first weekend of February, and there were very few sweet gum balls or other trip-risk debris on the trail, and very little litter. There were also trash cans at both ends of our stretch of trail.

Today, there were lots of sweet gum balls, and by the time I got to one end, and turned around, the side of the trail I had cleaned was already littered with gum balls again. There was very little litter, however, but both trash cans had been removed. People had put trash where the cans usually are, and ... I did not pick it up.

Anyway, be prepared. Maybe we’ll find time to sweep it again this weekend.

FYI.
