GSC Team:

I would respectfully ask a small favor after you have contacted the
senators through the CCL link. Just send me a quick message reporting that you
contacted the senators' offices and which senators you contacted (Ohio or WV). I
will not be recording your name just the total number of calls made by our
chapter. Our chapter goal is 25.

I attended a special (emergency) meeting of CCL National on July 20. CCL
has learned that in the U.S. Senate, the Democrats have resolved to pursue a
budget reconciliation bill. This bill needs at least 51 senators to support it
in order to pass. Carbon pricing is likely to be included in this bill that is
being discussed over the next three weeks in the Senate, but Democrats have told
CCL that the senators need to hear from constituents that this is popular.

This opportunity is a chance to achieve legislatively what CCL has been
working towards in the full 14 years of its existence.

CCL is asking all members to call (and e-mail--although calling is viewed as
more effective) their senators.
   For those in Ohio:
            Senator Sherrod Brown- 202-224-2315

            Senator Rob Portman- 202-224-3353
   For those in West Virginia:
            Senator Joe Manchin – 202-224-3954

Senator Shelly Moore Capito – 202-224-6472

Please go through the specially developed link to make these calls.

            cclusa.org/senate

and follow the directions. Your call and email will be automatically
logged.

You are advised to customize your message, but here is the recommended
wording to serve as the essence of the message:

To Sen. Brown/Manchin (Democrat) - Please support the inclusion of carbon pricing
in the Reconciliation Bill. It's time to go big and bold on climate action and
reduce carbon emissions.

To Sen. Portman/Capito (Republican) - Please support the inclusion of carbon
pricing in the Reconciliation Bill before the Senate. Carbon pricing is an
opportunity to avoid paying European border tariffs and remain competitive in
the world market.

These are messages based on CCL research optimize effectiveness.

I have sent an email and called our two Ohio senators and customized my
message
by saying that I live in Appalachia Ohio, and we need to re-imagine Appalachia
and develop an economy based on renewable energy and jobs that stay in our
region.
