Hello, all,
Our riverbank project is off to a good start; we would have gotten further if someone (cough cough) had remembered to purchase extra landscape fabric pins. We have rescued all the irises (not native plants but a sentimental neighborhood favorite, planted by a deceased neighbor) and several dozen native pollinator plants--aster, goldenrod, and wingstem. After Vic Elam brought his trimmer and knocked down all the tall growth, we started the solarization portion of the project by spreading sheets of black plastic. There is more to do, but the Harmar riverbank project has begun.
A BIG thank-you to Dave and Shari Ballantyne, George Banziger, Vic Elam, Jim Grecni, Dawn Hewitt, and Maggie Meyer for their work today. More volunteer opportunities will be available!
Rebecca
