Subject: [Green] Harmar Riverbank Project update and call for volunteers
Hello, all,
I have been in contact with Geoff Schenkel, Fourth Ward council, and he
thinks that someplace downtown (on the east side) would be a better site for
our bench/charging station. Will follow up with Steve Wetz about siting, but
it would be good to have someone more familiar with the technology who can
also talk to him sometime in the near future.
Now--we will be needing volunteers for a plant rescue, exact date TBD and
dependent on weather, but I am hoping for this weekend if everything works
out. (Will be meeting with Mark Swaney, the neighbor who has maintained the
site, to see what plants he remembers that may be dormant right now.) We
will be digging and potting plants; we also need volunteers to overwinter
them. I can take some but already have several flats of last year's
winter-sown seedlings at my place. I will do a count of pots rescued from
the recycling center currently in our potting area, and if anyone will be
there this week, we can probably use more. I will donate potting soil, but
please bring your own preferred digging implements.
Please let me know if you have availability this weekend, and I will keep
everyone updated.
Rebecca
