[Green] City Council Resolution charging bench

Thanks for weighing in, Robin. The spot suggested by the safety service director is right next to a streetlight, but the church parking lot and residential Fort Street (the Hills' old house, now owned by Mark Swaney, is across the street) are probably not that well-patrolled. Since the city has to approve the site and the bench itself, there will be conversations.

This is a big deal. They have continual problems with folks doing drug deals in their community, often at the park because there are benches, and a park bench is a perfect spot for it especially if it is not located near a continuous light, easily observable from the road and people traffic. I think if you talked with the folks you could find a different spot that would be more suitable.

Rebecca,
How serious and widespread is this concern about the solar bench leading to drug deals? Is it worth identifying a new site or just talking with these people individually to see what they are really concerned about and how it might weight against the benefits.
