Bees need our help!

We recently learned that old campaign yard signs can be repurposed by beekeepers to help keep bees warm during winter. And so, MOVCA is inviting anyone who still has old election signs lying around, regardless of the candidate or issue, to help us repurpose them for bees in the area!

We don’t have our dropoff spots set up just yet, but I’m sharing this now to try and get the word out before too many signs end up in a landfill instead. So far we’ll probably be using the same locations as we did for people to donate their old shoes for our shoe strikes: the First Christian and Seventh-day Adventist Churches in Parkersburg, as well as the First Unitarian Universalist Church in Marietta.

This is subject to change and I’ll try and update you ASAP if it does. In any case, please wait a few days before going to drop off your signs just to be on the safe side.

Bees are extremely important pollinators being threatened by pesticides, habitat loss, and climate change. So anything we can do to help them out is always a good thing!
