Annie:

We learned about this project from the Sierra Club since the application was not presented in any public notice in the Marietta Times.

The application for this project from Deep Rock LLC of Marietta to the US Army Corps of Engineers (Huntington Office) is to establish a facility on the shore of the Ohio River (near the intersection of Routes 550 and 7 for the purpose of off-loading "traditional waste material" from hydraulic fracturing wells in the region. The waste material would be delivered from the off-loading site to disposal wells in Washington County and other locations in the area. The public comment period for this application was April 7-May 6, which we thought was unfair and unreasonable because it was at the height of the coronavirus pandemic. We asked for an extension of the comment period; this was not granted. We also asked for the responses of Deep Rock LLC to questions raised in the comment period; I was told that I needed to apply to see those responses through the Freedom of Information Act. I did so and have not yet received those responses. We also asked for a public meeting, and I just heard yesterday that this was granted and set for August 7 (5:00-6:30 pm).

Do you need any other information? You should have received the list of questions I have already drafted for the virtual public meeting.

We have a commitment from the US Army Corps of Engineers for a virtual public meeting (see below) . The rules will be rather restrictive. We need to discuss strategy, who will participate and questions we intend to pose.
