Green People:
My letter to the editor on the virtual public meeting finally appeared today in the Marietta Times. Unfortunately, it was an earlier version. In a later version I added the fact that the fracking waste will be sent to a pump station across the road (Rt. 7), then to be sent about 3-4 miles along Harmar Hill to the injection well, which is located behind the district office of the Soil & Water Conservation on Rt. 676. It's too bad that we don't have time to make that point before the public meeting. It's also unfortunate that Deep Rock will not be at the public meeting--the USACE would have no interest in what happens to the fracking waste after it is taken away from the river -- the reality is that it is a risk to those residents of the area around that well and to the aquifers.

While this approach might be legally appropriate, it is far from the right thing to do. Those who are most directly impacted by this project, i.e., people living in and around Marietta), have had very little opportunity to give their comments.
