He dropped his quote from $1940 to $1840, plus added the Sink and Vanity. I haven't found a competitive quote; but, I'll admit I haven't tried very hard. I'd like to go ahead with this offer - partly on the basis of the confidence and history we have with Harrison. He knows the building and the electrical / mechanical systems of the building - that we can go 110 volt rather than 220 volt. And, he'll stand behind his work - in-obtrusively. While he's not removing the current tank, it remains available for removal if we have a willing candidate for buying or repurposing the tank. It's within our budget; plus, there is some $$ left for the Front Door, or for Window Shades.
Regards,
DEB

Thanks, Dave! Yes, great news regarding electric consumption and generation!
So, what is Harrison’s new estimate/bid on water heating in the RE building?
Thank you for being so dedicated to reducing our buidings’ carbon footprint!

I'm processing the Jun-Jul electric bill this morning. Following are the highlights.
This is the third consecutive month where the combined electric bill from the Sanctuary and RE Bldg resulted in our Solar Generation being more that 100% of our usage. We generated 114% of our usage this past month compared to 106% the previous month and 99% for the same month last year. We averaged generating 67% of our usage over the past 12 months. That average continues to increase, as we receive the benefit of those energy efficiency projects completed within the past year. Our goal and estimate is 80%.
The outside temperature was 5 degrees warmer this past month compared to the previous month, though 2 degrees cooler on average than the same month last year. "Usage Management" (keeping areas isolated for heating and cooling) continues to be important. Big thank-yous to occupants using both buildings.
Harrison Construction reduced their quote for the RE Hot Water project based on bypassing rather than removing the current hot water tank in the RE Basement. Plus, they offer to donate a vanity and new sink for the RE Bathroom. Biggest impact from this project will be in winter rather than summer - not transporting heated water through cold pipes, plus avoiding use of the over-sized tank.
Regards,
Dave
