[Green] news release

Hi Annie (and other Green friends),

I’m sorry I have been delinquent in publicizing the solar installer class. I’ve been in Ecuador for the past two weeks, and was mighty busy preceding my trip. But it is my intention this week to write and mail a press release to the Marietta Times, Parkersburg News and Sentinel, WMOA, WTAP, WOUB, River City News, and any other news media I can track down. The press release will focus on the class, not on Jay or Blue Rock Station, so it will be very different from the one you sent to the two local newspapers. I will also include information on the scholarships.

I’ll base the public press release on what I am about to write for the Confluence.

I’ll also photocopy the fliers and an invitation to several big construction companies in town—maybe not 30 as I did for the overview class, but a dozen or so, I expect.

Have you notified those who attended the solar overview class or the solar generator-building classes of the installer training class? If you have their email addresses, I’d be happy to send the press release to them.

I sure hope we can fill all 10 seats!

Again, I’m sorry to be late with this, and relieved that the class wasn’t in February, as originally planned. We’d be in big trouble then!

I know Dawn was planning to send a release with info about the scholarships that are being offered by FUUSM, Green Sanctuary, and the Values Trust (I'm not clear on just how it is being presented). We'll be working on promoting the class with flyers and the like as well.

Surprisingly we don't have anyone signed up for the class which happens in four weeks so we're getting a little nervous. It occurred to me that if I sent out a teaser to the paper maybe they would do a story on Jay and the class. It seems like a lot of people still read the Marietta Times. Let me know if there's anything else I can do to help things along.
