Speaking of those sweet little gum balls, I did sweep them off of our section of the trail as I said I would this afternoon. Jim

Thank you, Cindy!
You are absolutely right about sweet gum balls. (Except that one of them almost killed Tim.) Your attitude is admirable, and every one of those sweet gum trees was well established where it is long before the River Trail was built. I do appreciate the alternative perspective!

Hi all,
Rina Goings just shared the UU posting of event on the MOVCA Facebook page-
Says she is going.. I hope this helps! I'm hopeful you'll have a full class. It has likes and one share so far..

I'm sorry that I can't come and help on Saturday. I'll be at the Quaker Fall Gathering of Friends..
It so so wonderful that FUUSM is working with Blue Rock Station and making these opportunities available to our community! I'm so appreciative..
Although I couldn't be at the last Green Sanctuary meeting, When I read the first part of your report , I felt sad that the pods were described as "nasty" So I've edited it - to reflect my love of the natural world. ..Keeping the positive approach! I do love the amazing satellite-like pods and awed by their beauty. Now if we have that mindset, when we labor to remove them for our human needs- it is a beautiful opportunity to commune and get a little exercise. (that is what I do when I pick up the walnuts in my back yard)
1. The sweet gum ball removal project on the section of the River Trail that we are committed to maintaining is complete. It didn’t take long to sweep up and remove gum balls from three sections. Perhaps wind, rain, or foot and bicycle traffic moved most of them to the sides of the trail. There were only three spots that needed work. Still, the sweet gum trees are laden with their beautiful seed pods so this will need to be an ongoing labor of love.
By the way the MOVCA's third thursday program this This Thursday, September 20th from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at First Christian Church, 1400 Washington Avenue, Parkersburg, WV is MOVCA's Third Thursday Public Meeting featuring Mid-Ohio Valley faith leaders discussing as a panel what they, their congregations, their denominations and their faiths as a whole are doing regarding climate action and environmental stewardship.
This seems like a wonderful opportunity for UUs to network with other faith groups and perhaps find opportunities to support people of faith on their care of creation.
Thanks for all you all do. Every action helps. Thank you Dave and Shari for providing me transportation so I could help with the Candidates Forum. That went so well and was so well received, I shared the program we handed out with the Quakers on Sunday and they were appreciative. By the way, I counted OVER 50 in attendance! .. and having the questions available to all was SO helpful. Well done!

Darrel Ting has informed Annie that he intends to sign up. Maybe we’ll get four more by Wednesday at 7! I hope so!! The Facebook promo is out there, although the event didn’t make it to today’s newspaper.
