Let me know what time Saturday and maybe I can bring my temperature gun to highlight the temperature loss at the window.

George,

It would be EASY to make a short video (could be done on a cell phone). We could have someone start on the sidewalk, introduce him or herself, and introduce our two buildings. Then go inside the RE building, up the stairs, and have a look out the window at the solar array. Then, show the window—that it’s old and leaky. Say that the impact of our solar array will be stronger if our RE building is energy efficient, and that’s what we want to accomplish with our Faithify campaign.

I can draft… I mean ask... Tim to record me doing/saying this—assuming I can get into the RE building on Saturday!  Then I’ll email y’all the video, and you can give it a thumbs up or down. And if it’s thumbs down, I won’t be crushed or even offended. I’m just proposing a quick-and-dirty solution. It might be adequate.

What you’ve written looks great, and I’m simultaneoulsy replying to your other message (sent to me privately, the lengthy Faithify application). So, check your email again in an hour or so.

Thanks for doing this!

Green Sanctuary Folks:

Following is the first part of our solar matching application to Faithify. Notice my question about a video--if we don't have a short video, can we produce one --fairly quickly? There are two photos (the roof with solar panels and the RE building) which did not paste into this message.

The First Unitarian Universalist Society of Marietta (FUUSM), a UUA-approved Green Sanctuary congregation,  intends to expand and diversify its solar energy project. FUUSM launched its solar energy project with the installation of its first array of solar panels in October 2016 on the roof of the sanctuary building on the corner of Third and Putnam Streets in Marietta, Ohio.
The RE building, the roof of which cannot accommodate solar panels,  is estimated to be over 130 years old, and its aging structure is not well suited to energy efficiency for its current electrically based heating and air-conditioning system. At this point FUUSM would like to invest in efforts to make this historic building more energy efficient through the installation of wall insulation, double-pane windows, and a new electrical HVAC system for climate control.
To that end an anonymous donor has offered $10,000 as a dollar-for-dollar matching challenge grant. Approximately two thirds of the match already has been collected from other donors and through fund-raising activities by the congregation's Green Sanctuary Committee. FUUSM is seeking donations from Faithify donors and from people and organizations who support renewable energy in the greater Mid-Ohio Valley to complete this match. The anonymous donor set a deadline of April 22, 2018—Earth Day—to complete fund raising for this matching grant.
FUUSM is the first religious organization in the Mid-Ohio Valley to install solar panels and to utilize solar energy as its main source of electricity for its house of worship. Through its efforts of introducing renewable energy FUUSM is decreasing the carbon footprint of the city and serving as a model of responsible stewardship of the environment for the wider community. Because the solar array is “on the grid,” excess electricity generated on sunny days is sent into the system for use by other consumers.
The solar array was acquired by Golden Rule Associates LLC, an entity established by FUUSM member David Ballantyne; the reason for this method of acquisition is that as a private organization, Golden Rule is eligible for a 30 percent federal tax benefit for renewable energy infrastructure that a non-profit entity such as FUUSM is not.
