I don't come to meetings very often - I'm at Recycle during the noon 2 hours
- but I agree.

I think signing as a group would show great support. Shari

Don't know what others think, but yes, I feel it would be a good idea to
sign as FUUSM Green Sanctuary.

Hello, all,
Michelle Wilson just forwarded this to me. Heather Cantino of the Athens
County Fracking Action Network is looking for cosigners to this letter
objecting to the lack of official grassroots environmental participation in
the Wayne National Forest plan revision team. Do we want to sign the
document as an organization?

Thanks for sharing, Michelle!
Best, Heather
Dear friends,
The Wayne National Forest is undertaking a planning process for a new Forest
Plan. We have had little meaningful notice (per the usual) to weigh in by
Aug. 30, necessary to establish STANDING and be able to contribute further
as the planning process unfolds over the coming year and beyond.
To establish standing to give future input, PLEASE sign onto the attached
letter by sending an e--mail
to heather.cantino at gmail.com <mailto:heather.cantino at gmail.com> by Friday,
Aug. 17*
with your Name,
(Organization if you can represent one),
City and/or County and other address info,
and Contact information (e-mail at least).
* If you can't provide organizational info by Aug. 17, please let Heather
know when you will be able to get your info to us, given the Aug. 30
deadline. Or be sure to send in your own letter/comments (address below) and
please bcc-us if you're willing. Thanks!
Attached, besides the letter, are the introduction and recommendations from
the 2008 Economic Analysis of the 2006 Wayne National Forest Plan to give
you an idea of what was wrong with the 2006 Plan, the focus of this
Assessment phase (through Aug. 30) of the new planning process.
In addition to and separately from submitting this group letter, I (Heather)
will be sending packets of information to the planning team (many previously
sent to the Wayne, such as comments by Buckeye Forest Council and others on
logging, ATV trail and highway projects and the entire 2008 Economic
Analysis) that document past concerns and current science. Because the 2006
Plan did not address fracking, we will also re-submit key fracking-related
comments and research as well as new documents on fracking, climate, etc..
We will also comment on the value of the Forest for low-impact tourism,
recreation dollars and well-being in the region and the value of investing
in clean energy.
If you would like to be a signatory to these packets (there will be multiple
e-mail packets on different subjects with pdfs of research and/or past
comments), please let me (Heather) know. I can't send each packet to
everyone before submitting them, so this part will require you trusting me
to submit materials that you'd like to have represent your concerns. I can
send you a couple of sample packets now to help you decide, and if you sign
onto this service, I will also bcc you the packets.
Please weigh in, via this group letter (give me notice by Aug. 17) and/or on
your own (to wayneplanrevision at fs.fed.us) by Aug. 30.
Some info at fs.usda.gov/main/wayne/landmanagement/planning
<http://www.fs.usda.gov/main/wayne/landmanagement/planning> .
(Please bcc us if you comment independently so we have an idea of the number
of substantive and relevant comments the Wayne is getting.)
Thank you!
