Dear GSC friends,

Nutshell version:
Keep Wayne Wild—Marietta Chapter meeting at 3 p.m. Saturday, March 18, Jeremiah’s Coffee House. MOVCA meeting on Thursday 3/16 is on that topic, too. This is an extremely local and important topic!!
Next meeting is next Sunday, March 19, at 12:30. It’ll be an important meeting because April is a busy month for us. Please come! Proposed agenda below—send other items by 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 15
Please keep your eye on HR 861, a bill that "This bill terminates the Environmental Protection Agency on December 31, 2018.”

Longer version: 

1. I attended the Keep Wayne Wild workshop and fundraiser last night. I found the information I learned at the workshop to be very disturbing. Because the proposed Wayne fracking is mostly in the Marietta Unit, it is truly in our backyard. We really need to get involved. I plan to attend the event Saturday at 3 p.m. at Jeremiah's. I hope you will, too. I will discuss all of this at the meeting Sunday.

2. Proposed agenda:
Approve minutes from February meeting.
Plans for Adult RE in April
Earth Day plans
Joining up with Garden Tour/Plant Sale group for some sort of event later in the summer?
Wayne Fracking: Why GSC should get involved, and what we can do
Need a volunteer for April Green Tips
Third Sunday of April is 16th, Easter. To have Green Sanctuary Committee meeting or not?

3. HR 861 is now in the Environment Subcommittee of the House Committee on Energy and Commerce. Marietta’s own Congressman Bill Johnson is on that committee and that subcommittee. We would all be advised to contact him and ask him to KILL THAT BILL—well, only if clean air and water are important to you!!  You can follow the bill at this website: https://www.congress.gov/bill/115th-congress/house-bill/86 I encourage you to bookmark that page. 

4. March events worth attending if you can. I’m sorry I can’t be at all of them. 
Thu 3/16 7 p.m. at First Christian Church, 1400 Washington AvenueParkersburg MOVCA public meeting with a presentation scheduled by Wayne Nofrack's group regarding preventing further leasing/fracking of Ohio's Wayne National Forest.

Sun 3/19 12:30 p.m.Green Sanctuary Committee

Sat 3/25 7 p.m. Dawn H’s house for Earth Hour Party. (Candlelight only from 8:30 - 9:30). (If you have cat or dog allergies, please opt out!)
Sun 3/26 1 p.m. FUUSM RE Parlor: Planet group meeting to discuss local green business award (follow up from social action meeting Feb. 26)
