LOL, I get it with the noise. There were 38 people there for my brother's birthday & my hearing aids picked up everyone talking at once. I met a great niece I had only heard about, so it was interesting to put a face to the name. She is grown, married, & put herself through college with a Masters. I am astonished because she had no parenting and managed to care for herself as well as a baby brother, who is now in the military.
It was so nice to see some other members of our primary family I have not seen in many years, in addition to my sister-in-law's family and many of their friends.
No, my brother does not have electronic assist, he is trying to build himself back up to his former self as he was prior to having to be off for the procedures. He has always been very careful to maintain his body with all the natural supplements, good diet, excercise. I remember when he was working in office and only riding on weekends. He did the RCAF (Royal Canadian Air Force) excercises everyday. He is a piping designer-engineer, so he had to do a lot of sitting on the job.
His wife is 69, but she is the one who had a horrible motorcycle wreck and caught fire while doing a fundraiser for Toys for Tots around 2015 or 2016. She is very maimed, but able to drive & walk. He helps her quite a bit & was with her every step of the way during this very long process of rehabilitation. So yes, the age difference, as well as the physical limitations for the both of them have taken a toll & upended their lives considerably. They are, however, very grateful to be alive and appreciate the abilities they do have. She has a very large extended family down there in Tennessee & Alabama.
I hope you have a peaceful, uninterrupted, safe flight home.

I'm glad to hear your brother is doing so well. I gave up my regular bike for an electric assist bike because of the hills, I don't think I could handle a dirt bike despite not having heart of knee problems. Or does he have electric assist?
My wife is your age and I think the age difference between 73 and 80 seems greater than between 63 and 70, probably partly because men seem to age faster than women. But I am probably over-generalizing. She still prefers that I drive and I did get my license renewed for another three years.
My birthday celebration here was a great family gathering and everybody got very animated sharing memories evoked by the slides. The downside is that there was so much noises that I often couldn't hear what they were saying.
We are scheduled to fly back tomorrow.Ted

Happy Birthday Ted!
Thank you for sharing your photos & some of your life experiences. Very interesting. You & Joe & my brother all having the 80th birthday the same day. Also interesting is how many folks in the world think of the age factor being such a big deal for the job of the President. Remember all the age flack during the pre election season last time around. Now the Trumper is just as old as Joe was then. Go figure. I wonder how loud the voices will be now.
I just arrived home from Fayetteville, TN where I attended a surprise Birthday Party for my Brother, Dan, who also had his 80th birthday on the 20th. We are very fortunate to still have him with us and still riding his dirt bike through the trails with his pals. He survived a CODE BLUE heart attack this past summer, as well as two knee surgeries this past year. He is a tough little midget.
I am so happy to have made the drive down & back, just me and my little Yorkie, with no problems except getting all tired from the drive. It was well worth it. I was able to have some quality time alone with him & my gift for him was a steak dinner. It was great just having some good old chat time away from everyone for the first time in years. Personally, my belief is age is more a frame of mind than years. Some folks think 74 year old gray haired women should not be out on such long road trips with just their 6 lb. ancient Yorkie! I say, nothing ventured, nothing gained.
I wish you a very happy, healthy year ahead to your 81st.
Peace,Brenda Lisk

I've collected some photos for the celebration we will be having at my daughter's home in Washington State, and thought some of you might like to see them. Here is the file: Collection of Photos for Ted Goertzel’s 80th birthday I didn't do any photos for Joe, he has PR people for that. _______________________________________________
