Dear Beloved,
Here we are in a somewhat indescribable moment in movement history and time.
We are witnessing the reclaiming of human dignity across the country. We are witnessing our siblings plead with America’s hearts and minds to understand that Black life is also sacred and worth living. We are witnessing communities across the country asking for the disinvestment in brutality and violence but the investment in services that will help communities and people thrive.
We are witnessing siblings willing to risk their lives in the midst of a pandemic take to the streets to say, “Enough is Enough!” and yes, enough is enough!
Unitarian Universalism tells us that everyone has the right to live with dignity and respect. Everyone has a right to thrive in a vibrant democratic society that meets the people’s needs and encourages all of us to shine.
Our UU faith, our commitment to Side with Love in action and deed, is a critical part of this moment and the overall movement. Let’s show up and bring the best of ourselves.
As Unitarian Universalists, we believe that we are all radically interdependent, and when any of our communities suffer, we all suffer. In this moment, we need the leadership of those who know that while we must protect one another in the present, we must also build toward a future in which all of us are truly free.
Our 30 Days of Generosity<https://unitarianuniversalistassociation.cmail20.com/t/t-l-pykkdtl-ftjlkliq-y/> during June is meant to highlight the UUA’s work in 2020 and how programs are shifting to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic. We must also be nimble and responsive to the uprisings happening now all over the country.
We’re committed to our congregations and movement organizations weathering this storm. Black and Latinx grassroots organizations are leading us to build in the present in a way that honors our collective futures. Please support these organizations or others like them:

I cry as I remember the names of someone’s baby—we are all someone’s baby—who was murdered never to return home again. I close with these names: Emmett Till, Amadou Diallo, Sandra Bland, Oscar Cain, Korryn Gaines, Reika Boyd, Breonna Taylor, George Floyd, Tony McDade, and the list goes on.
As the pain and grief of centuries of violence without justice find their expression, let us remember the words of Dr. Gwendolyn Brooks:
"We each other’s harvest, we are each other’s business; we are each other’s magnitude and bond.”
May we live into these words. May we stretch ourselves to see the dignity of others outside ourselves and be in the business of dignity for each of us. May our bond be one that lifts up humanity and build a world where we never have to question one’s inherent worth.
I continue to extend this invitation to be on this journey together. May it be so!
