One fine fall day, two hungry little robins were sitting on a branch, and
one said to the other, "Hey, I think I see an earthworm down there in that
lawn!" It flew down, and sure enough, a yummy worm soon filled its belly.
It's friend flew down, and also found a full meal. Satisfied, they
stretched their wings to enjoy the warm sunshine, when out of nowhere, a
cat pounced on them and ate them! It licked its lips and said.....
*Don't forget: Collecting for Norwood Thanksgiving!*
Please don't forget that we hope to send a big check to Norwood United
Methodist Church to support its Community Thanksgiving Meal. We would like
to have all donations by Nov. 15. Last year, our donation was just shy of
$1,200. This year, we are currently at $315. Thanks to all who have donated
so far, and I hope others will join in. Write checks to FUUSM, and write
"Norwood" in the memo line. We'll also be serving approximately 40 of those
meals to patrons of the Community Resource Center on Thanksgiving Day,
coordinated by Nancy Lee and Shari Ballantyne. Thanks to them for
instigating this worthy project! Mail checks to FUUSM, 232 Third St.,
Marietta, 45750, or hand them to Dawn when you see her.
*MOVCA Art Exhibit: Americans Who Tell the Truth*
Maine artist Robert Shetterly has created more than 280 portraits of
Americans who tell the truth. Each of these portraits recognizes a person
who has made significant contributions to creating justice in life in
America, people who Shetterly calls “Truth Tellers.” Thanks to a Direct
Support Fund grant, Mid-Ohio Valley Climate Action will be exhibiting 10
portraits from his Earth Justice truth tellers series at the South
Parkersburg Library. An opening reception is scheduled for* Friday, October
17, from 5–8 p.m.* From 6–7 p.m., Robert Shetterly will Zoom in to share a
conversation with attendees. The reception is open to the public, free of
charge. The exhibit will be available for viewing free of charge during
regular library hours for approximately four weeks after the opening
reception. South Parkersburg Library is located at 1807 Blizzard Drive.
Regular hours of operation are: Monday, 10 a.m.–8 p.m.; Tuesday, Wednesday,
Thursday, 10 a.m.–6 p.m.; Friday, 10 a.m.–5 p.m., Saturday, 10 a.m.–3 p.m.
