[Fuusm-l] Special Service Announcement

The FUUSM Board of Trustees is considering Evan Young as our part-time
minister.  Some of you may remember Evan when he was with us in 2014-15 as
a ministerial student intern.



For those of you who don’t know Evan, he wrote the following introduction …

“I’ve been involved with UU ministry since 1995—as a new congregation
organizer in Hattiesburg, Mississippi for a couple of years; a lay leader,
student minister, and part-time contract minister at the UU Fellowship of
Athens over a span of fourteen years; and a (half-time, then full-time)
campus minister at United Campus Ministry at Ohio University for fifteen
years. I also served at the district level (when districts were a thing) in
extension work and youth and young adult ministry. I’ve been on something
of a hiatus since COVID. When friends reached out to me about the position
here, I experienced it as something of a call to return, at a moment when
our UU vision and message seem sorely needed. The idea of working with this
community, in this place and at this time, fills me with hope and
excitement. I look forward to all of us growing together.”



The major part of our need for a part-time minister is providing worship
services.  So, as part of the vetting process, Evan will be providing the
worship service on November 23rd.

The Board strongly encourages you to attend this service in person if you
can, or secondarily by Zoom or on Facebook.  We plan a reception afterward
at coffee hour so you can meet Evan in person.



During the week following the service, the Board welcomes comments from the
congregation regarding Evan as our part-time minister.  Comments may be
communicated by e-mail, phone call or text to any Board member.  The
comment period will close the following Sunday at midnight so that the
Board can proceed with a final decision and, if appropriate, the
development of an employment contract.
