What do you call a bear with no teeth?

*Thanks to the Buildings & Grounds Committee and others* last Saturday who
helped rake/sweep/blow leaves from where they shouldn't be on FUUSM
property, to where they should be, says Wendy, the building steward. Maybe
we'll have to do it a second time this fall, and maybe we can schedule a
sweet-gum-ball removal party in the spring!

*Thanks to Darryl Ting, Vic Elam, and supervisor Jane Tumas Serna *for
planting the old wayside pulpit permanently in front of the RE building.
The Quakers were pleased and grateful that their meeting times are now on
display.

In Service of Season's Greetings: *Our all-ages holiday greeting card
project is scheduled for **Dec**ember **1**. *This year, we're again
following the original plan as designed by John Maddox: a "workshop" in the
Social Hall after an abbreviated Sunday service, where young and old(er)
can work together and share the fun of writing messages of love and holiday
cheer on cards that will be distributed to residents in area nursing care
facilities. *If you'd like to participate, but you're* *not **available to
gather in person on December 1*, you can add some special greetings to
extra holiday cards (with envelopes) from supplies that you have at home,
and *bring them to the FUUSM office** during office hours (M,Tu,Th,F: 10
a.m.–2 p.m.) **on or before December 5**th* to be added to the deliveries. If
for any reason you’d like to work on signing cards at home in advance of
our “workshop” day but you don't have any cards at home, you can *pick up
some packs of cards in the Social Hall after the service on* *November 17*, and
return them to the FUUSM office during office hours (see above) no later
than December 5th. *Please “sign out” your card packs* so we can fulfill
our delivery quotas. Questions? Adeline Bailey has answers.

Staff gifts: A box labeled “staff gifts” is in the sanctuary entryway for
those wishing to contribute to a holiday bonus for FUUSM staff. A gummy
bear. (Credit or blame this morning's *Marietta Patch* for that one.)
