Hello, friends!
FUUSM is registered for the *Climate Justice Revival*, to take place in UU
congregations all across the US on *Saturday and Sunday, September 28th and
29th*. The Green Sanctuary Team is taking the lead in organizing some great
activities and events for all ages that weekend, which we'll be announcing
soon! But you can help us get warmed up (not a weather reference!) for the
event by participating in the *Art Contest and Creative Showcase* offered
by the coalition of groups planning the event.

Reimagine Together! Art Contest and Creative Showcase to Commemorate the UU
Climate Justice Revival

At the UU Climate Justice Revival, “Reimagine Together: From an Extractive
Age to a New Era!,” congregations will collectively reimagine a
spirit-filled and liberatory future for our communities.

As we cultivate a future with love at the center where all communities
thrive, we must honor the inherent worthiness and dignity of all and the
interconnected web of existence while dismantling racism and systemic
oppression as we continuously improve the ways we relate to each other and
embody change in our congregations.

Together, we can cultivate small, critical connections that nourish
relationships and collaboration amongst social justice teams; build
capacity to hold complexity in our congregations; collectively craft and
embrace a shared vision; and chart a course for the future we want to build
together with love at the center of our actions.

Call for Art - Competitive Art Contest - $750 Awards - Due September 1, 2024

To commemorate the first-ever UU Climate Justice Revival, we are calling
for submissions of artwork reimagining climate justice for a new era and
bringing a spirit of revival and renewal to our work.

Imagine that it's 2050 and we've achieved all of our wildest hopes for
collective liberation. What does that re-imagined reality look like? How
does it feel? What have our values led us to collectively abolish or move
away from?

Drawing on deep convictions, faith, imagination, lived experience, and
hope, the modern abolitionist movement imagines a just future where police
and prisons are no longer relevant or needed because everyone has what they
need.   What is the parallel vision for the climate justice movement
abolishes extractive systems of harm and instead cultivates a world where
all communities - humans, animals, plants, ecosystems, all communities -
thrive?

How would our world transform if love was at the center of our climate
actions and collective liberation the unifying goal?

Holding these visions at the forefront of our efforts, all artwork
submissions must intentionally address climate as an intersectional justice
issue.

Themed Awards (All Ages) - $750 awards

Three commemorative art pieces will be selected based on the following
themes.  The artist for each winning piece will receive a $750 award.

   Abolitionist Visions of Climate Justice

Emerging Artist Awards (Under 18) - $250 awards

Three Emerging Artist Awards of $250 each will be awarded to youth artists
(Under 18).

Submitted Art will be judged on the following criteria:

   Relevance to Theme
   -

   Creativity and Originality
   -

   Technical Skill and Execution
   -

   Emotional Impact and Engagement
   -

   Clarity and Strength of Message

Creative Showcase! - Not Competitive - Fun for All! - Ongoing Submissions

Bring your creativity and flair as we Reimagine Together a world where all
communities thrive!  UUs of all ages are invited to color, doodle, draw,
design, knit, sew, weave, crochet - whatever your creative spirit calls
forth to celebrate the first-ever UU Climate Justice Together.

What would your community or our world look like if all communities thrived?

How would our world transform if love was at the center of our climate
actions and collective liberation the goal?

You can take inspiration from these prompts or bring your vision to the
coloring page from Side With Love’s Abolitionist Visions of Climate Justice
event last year.
