The priests of the Christian churches announced that they had spent the past ten years praying, and God sent them a spaceship to leave Earth safely. The rabbis said that they had spent ten years reading Hebrew scrolls that taught them to make a spaceship to leave Earth safely. The UU ministers……

Five more hymnal sponsors needed!
There are still five copies of Singing the Journey, the “teal hymnal,” in need of a sponsor. For just $20, you can dedicate the hymnal to the honor or memory of a loved one. Contact Martha McGovern or the church lady to provide the information necessary to record your sponsorship on a label in the front cover of “your” hymnal. This opportunity isn’t available every day, people!
The UU ministers announced that they had spent ten years making a conference table large enough to fit everyone for a discussion.
Article II Discussion is Important
According to the UUA website, “Article II of the Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA) Bylaws, Principles and Purposes, is the foundation for all of the work of our UUA and its member congregations…. It is the covenant to which all of our congregations …pledge themselves when they become members of our UUA.” At the UUA conference coming up later this month, proposed changes to Article II will be voted upon. Here’s a link to the UUA study report: https://www.uua.org/files/2023-02/article-II-study-report-2021-23.pdf . Not everyone agrees that these changes are worthy or wise. Here’s a link to a group of UUs who oppose changing Article II: https://savethe7principles.org/. Two more discussions of this topic will be held before we send our delegates to the UUA conference: this Sunday, at 9:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. in the FUUSM social hall. Please do your homework, or at least come to one of the discussions. Our delegates need to represent us at the conference.

I was not born here,
but my mother was,
my grandmothers were,
and my great-grandmothers.
Moving to these mountains
with my children
was an inevitable homecoming,
a culmination
of July days and Christmas nights.
The women here are
as I imagined they were
in my great-grandmother’s lifetime;
stubborn about staying,
eager to leave,
ready to head home
and content 
no matter where they land.
I have lived among others, 
but these are rhododendron strong
and foxglove vulnerable;
a grace that brings both,
sorrow and awe.
