More opportunities to help our local pollinator habitat.

The warm weather and plentiful rain of the last few weeks have led to vigorous plant growth, a situation that means plants are growing where they are not wanted. We want the habitat and future memorial garden to look their best for Harmar Days, coming up on FRIDAY. And despite all the good work volunteers have done, that river loam just keeps sending up more plants.

Who could be available for a work party from 8-10 on Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday morning? (Or all three, for that matter? Or 9:00, if that time works better for you?) We need to remove wingstem, bindweed, extra aster, pokeweed, nutsedge, bermuda grass, and extra evening primrose (along with whatever else I haven't noticed). Flat work areas are available, along with our usual hillside. If you are not sure of your weed-recognition abilities, you can specialize in a single variety of plant for removal. Training available!

Granola bars and plant waste bags will be provided. Bring water, gloves, and your favorite digging tools. Plain old hands work for lots of things. Long pants and long sleeves are also recommended, as poison ivy is making a reappearance in some places.
