· 1-3 p.m., Social Justice Sunday, with Lisa Flowers-Clements, on Demystifying Critical Race Theory. Lisa Flowers-Clements has worked in higher education for 25 years. Her research interests include diversity, equity, social justice, and creating a sense of belonging. She is a long-time Washington County resident and proud mother of two adult children, she notes. Lisa writes that Demystifying Critical Race Theory will cover the origins of Critical Race Theory and its importance in today’s world. The discussion will include the weaponization and politicization of the term as well as how it can help us create a better future by examining the past. A roundtable discussion, as always, will follow her presentation. COVID guidelines will be enforced. As the roundtable discussion is difficult to present on Zoom, the event will be in-person only. Please mark your calendars for this important discussion. If you would like to join the SJS Committee or have ideas for future presentations, please contact Andrew Clovis at wardwellsmercy at gmail.com and include UU Social Justice in the subject line.
