[Fuusm-l] News and Opinion in Confluence?

Of course everyone's "take" on things is different. As editor of
Confluence, I thought we should have had a brief news story about
the dialog session since it was one of the significant events in our
community. That's different from my opinion, I think the distinction
between a news story and an opinion column is important. But this depends
on whether you want to see Confluence become more like a newsmagazine, with
news and opinion stories, or do you just want it to be a calendar of events?

If we want, we can have news and/or opinion on the dialogue sessions in the
September Confluence, after both meetings have been held. For Confluence,
it would be best if one of the organizers would write something. That is
how Confluence usually works, the people involved in each activity write
the stories. If there is a lot of material, such as the written statements
many participants prepared for the dialogue session, or other
opinion pieces, I can post them in a separate file and link to them from
Confluence itself. But maybe we want to treat this as a hush hush personnel
matter and not put it in Confluence. I don't think Confluence has readers
in the community outside the church, I'm not even sure how many members
read it. I'm not going to produce separate issues, one for the members and
one for the public, it would be too much trouble and people would have to
access it through the members only page on fuusm.org with a password and
captcha which would further cut the readership.

I would also like to share my opinion, of course, which I could do at the
August session except that I expect to be out of town. I would like to have
the meeting available to members on Zoom, and there may be others who will
be traveling in August. Opening a Zoom room for members doesn't mean
opening it to the general public. We spent a lot of money setting up the
sanctuary for Zoom, and our tech team does a great job, why not use it?

In the August Confluence

we have an interesting essay by Dawn on the afterlife (no, it's not the
Great General Assembly in the Sky). We also have several reports on the
Pittsburgh General Assembly. But I'm not sure if people want to read this
sort of thing in Confluence, maybe we all already have enough reading. I'd
appreciate anyone's input on what you would like Confluence to be.
