b.. 9:30 a.m., choir practice in the Sanctuary.
c.. 11-11:30 a.m., Sunday Service: Welcome the Winter Holidays, with Rev. Kathryn Hawbaker. How do you count the days and in what ways do you celebrate? We always have a choice, and we can help others reflect on what means the most to them when we invite them into deeper sharing. Remember that play is fun! Make up your mind to take another step to simplify the season, try something new, welcome or help a stranger, and do something to make the world even more beautiful (with or without snow).
d.. 11:30-noon, the Sunday service will continue in the social hall in Service of Season's Greetings. Our all-ages holiday greeting card project will return to the original plan designed by John Maddox: a "workshop" as part of the Sunday service, where young and old(er) can work together and share the fun of writing messages of love and holiday cheer on cards that will be distributed to residents in area nursing care facilities.
e.. noon: Refreshments, including snacks, compliments of the Worship & Music Committee, and coffee, served by Elaine Barr and Jonathan Brier.
f.. Holiday Decorating teams will be working inside and outdoors.
g.. 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Quaker Meeting for Worship in the RE Building parlor.
FUUSM representatives are needed to serve on the Empty Bowls planning committee. If this is your calling, please contact Virginia Mayle at (740) 376-9921.
FREE Music CDs, donated by Maggie Meyer, are yours for the taking. Find two boxes on the pew in the social hall.
A note from FUUSM Board of Trustees:
Those who are interested in making a holiday gift donation to the FUUSM staff, your donation must be turned in by December 18, the third Sunday in December, in order to allow time for the gifts to be distributed for Christmas. There are several ways to contribute: Write a check to FUUSM, including an obvious notation on the bottom of your check that states, “Staff Gifts,” or, use cash. Either way, place it in an envelope that is also marked “Staff Gifts,” and do one of the following: 1) Place in the offering plate on Sunday; 2) Place in a box/can marked “Staff Gifts” in the back of the sanctuary or downstairs in the social hall; or 3) Drop it off at the FUUSM office, or, if the office isn’t staffed, put it in the mail cubby in the hallway for "Treasurer Ted Goertzel" or for "Steve Meyer, financial assistant." You may also mail a check to FUUSM, 232 Third St., Marietta, OH 45750, but please do not mail cash! For bookkeeping accountability and safety’s sake, checks are preferred. Thank you for your generosity! Attention to these gifting details is much appreciated!
