FUUSM Family and Friends,

I write with word of the passing of Peter Polites after a difficult struggle with lung cancer.  He and his beloved wife Virginia Mayle were loyal supporters of our congregation and community.  He was an active member of the Today’s Issues Group with thoughtful opinions demonstrating his love of reading, news and culture.  He was active with the Institute for Learning in Retirement at Marietta College and many other civic organizations.  

His tickets allowed me to attend the WV Symphony for the first time, and I looked for him and Virginia every time I went.  I recall that he was willing to serve as Treasurer at a time when we needed him most.  I also know how generous and caring he was with people who needed help, going out of his way to provide rides or other support, including helping with the Community Meals we hosted at FUUSM.  I miss the stories I didn’t get to hear, and will ever appreciate his candor and compassion.
