Rev. Hawbaker and the Worship & Music Committee are shifting the focus of worship planning to enhance our shared participation and engagement, with attention to our in-person service adaptations.
At least one in-person service will be offered each month, some with on-site activities at Noon. Timing will be 11:00 am for virtual service, (which can be viewed on the TV monitor in the Sanctuary); Greeters needed.
12:00 pm (Noon) for in-person service activity (no congregational singing at this time).
Safety protocols will be followed at all times.

ETHEL GUTHRIE - Feb.1904-Jan 23-2000 Ethel received her Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science and Master of Arts degrees at the Ohio State University. She taught English for 40 years. She was very active in many education programs. Mrs. Guthrie served as Ohio Division Treasurer and President of the American Association of University Women. Her founding of the Marietta Chapter of the American Field Service brought many interesting foreign young people to Marietta and provided an opportunity for local youths to
go abroad. She was an active member of FUUSM. Ethel passed away January 23, 2000 and is buried
in Mound Cemetery (there is a large file of Ethel’s activism in the office.)

Ballantyne Snowperson Challenge Spring is on the way, but the challenge continues until April 1.
Many wonderful entries have helped to warm our hearts and community and raised over $500 for the current budget. Reminder to send your $10 check of support to FUUSM for additional scupltures, and share the photos.
Go Fly a Kite!!
The Ballantynes, double dog dare you to fly a kite higher than ours! For every family that flies a kite, the Ballantynes will donate $25.00 to the church. Flying begins March 1st and ends May 1st. On the second of May we will draw for the winner of a $100.0 gift certificate. Take a picture of your family flying a kite and send it to the fuusm email list for all to see - You will have to run, let go, and watch it soar!)
As an extra bonus to the church, if you make your own kite, and get it in the air, we will donate an extra $5.00 for your family's kite outing. You may enter as many times as you like, however: after your first kiting you must donate $10.00 to the church. We will pay for your family's first outing only. You will be placed in the drawing for every kite you fly. Which means if you fly 3 kites, you pay for 2, and be in the drawing 3 times.
The Cherish ALL Life Project –
Members and friends of all ages:You are invited to make a mini movie on your phone to investigate this years’ theme question: How can we be mindful and authentic in cherishing all life? I am asking members and friends to make a short movie. So we as viewers experience the life of the one who creates the movie. Photos are welcome and will be in the final product but try a short movie. It’s not about being perfect. It’s about the joy and love for ALL life. Spring is coming and just the anticipation brings hope and joy.
Then send it to me – Jane Tumas-Serna (jtumas-serna at hollins.edu)
Come Help with the Warming House Project
Located at 312 Front Street, the former parsonage beside the First Congregation Church in Marietta.
Thank you to all who helped with the meals for the Warming House this past week.
In March the hours have been changed to 12:00 to 3:30, Monday through Saturday. (Closed Sunday)
Volunteers are needed for serving and food preparation for each Tuesday from now til May first. It is about a two hour commitment (usually 12:30 to 2:30). We have learned that lots of sweets are not necessary, and that meat, salad, rolls, potatoes and cornbread are big hits.
If you can volunteer please let me know. -Beth Lepore shimplepore at suddenlink.net 740 525 1423

Some of our folk have started getting vaccinated, but the work to get “shots in the arms” continues, the rates of infection are still high, and variants of the virus are spreading. Some people are having a hard time getting registered and securing an appointment. Keep trying! More vaccines are being provided.
