The Today's Issues group meets at 9:30 on Sunday mornings in the Parlor of
the Religious Education building next to the church. Attendance is
increasing asall of the regulars are vaccinated, but there is room for a
few more. We end in time to attend the church service at 11.

For this Sunday we will be discussing two articles from the July 22 issue
of the New York Review of Books. (the essays are not related, Cezanne did
not invade Iraq).

A review of a transcendent exhibition of Cézanne’s drawings at the Museum
of Modern Art in New York reveals an artist who is drunk on sensation but
always sober enough to pin it down. Since the essay includes only two
illustrations, we will supplement our discussion with a slide show of many
of the paintings and drawings. You can also view the slide show here to
supplement the essay: Cezanne Drawing Slide Show

?
The most complete account we are likely to get of the deceptions and
duplicities that led to war leaves some crucial mysteries unsolved. This
is a review of a new book that differs from the more common explanation
giving emphasis to the role of the neocons, giving more of the blame to
George W. Bush himself and others.

Check out the reading and the slides and join our lively face-to-face
discussion!
