Ted - Since a member of the church sent an email to the entire female membership accusing him of sexual harassment, I think it’s a bit beyond the gossip stage. 
I forwarded the email to you.  Now your information won’t be secondhand, although her allegations certainly were. 
If it were you, wouldn’t you appreciate being told what you’d been publicly accused of?  Common decency is what I’d call it, especially from a church where he, too, is a member. 
But it’s not my call, of course.  And I’m sure I’ve spoken out too much already for some people’s liking.

I'm not sure what anyone in authority could say until a written complaint has been filed.  Perhaps a friendly heads up that gossip has been circulating is appropriate.  I'm a member of the Board of Trustees, but I don't actually know what the gossip is saying and I've only secondhand information about who is the target.
