It is the time of year when many members contribute to staff gifts for our
employees, in recognition of service over the year that often goes beyond
formal job requirements. This year is special because Chris Keller, our
office manager, is retiring after 26 years of service. The church will be
giving Chris severance to help with the transition and some medical
expenses, but you may wish to give her a special gift on this occasion.

There will be a caninster labeled "Staff Gifts" at the back of the
sanctuary after Sunday services this month. We accept cash and checks
written to FUUSM. If you wish to earmark a gift for a specific employee,
write that on the check or put cash in an envelope with instructions. If
you contribute a lump sum, the Board will allocate it. You can also put
your staff gift check, or envelope, in the plate that is passed around
during the service. It should be clearly labeled to distinguish it from a
regular contribution to the church.

If you aren't coming into the Church because of the pandemic, you can send
a check in the mail to: Treasurer, Unitarian Church, 232 Third Street,
Marietta OH 45750. Please label your check "staff gifts" or with the name
of a specific staff member so we can distinguish staff gifts from "pledge"
payments. Of course, you can send a check for a pledge payment in the same
envelope if you wish.

We aren't set up to take credit cards as yet, please let me know if you
would like to have this option in the future. They do take a small
percentage, but it may be worth it for the convenience. For now, if anyone
wishes to use PayPal, you can send a payment to me personally at
tedgoertzel at gmail.com and trust me to pass it on. I've never actually
received money that way, but I have sent it and it has always worked.
Again, include a note saying how the money is to be allocated. If you use
contributions as a deduction on your taxes, however, don't send it that
way, send a check which will serve as a receipt.

Happy Holidays!
Ted Goertzel,
Treasurer
