For this Sunday, November 1, the Today’s Issues group will discuss essays
related to the election from the November 2 issue of the New York Review of
Books. Click here for the November 5 issue
<https://www.nybooks.com/issues/2020/11/05/>, if you have trouble without a
subscription email tedgoertzel at gmail.com

Page 4, a collection of brief comments by NYR writers on the election. You
can read as many as you like. The one by Vivian Gornick on the impact of
the feminist movement meshes well with the David Brooks column we will also
discuss, “How to Actually Make America Great Reversing 50 years of social
decline

,”

Page 26, Fintan O’Toole, “Enabler in Chief,” a discussion of the role of
William Barr, Trump’s Attorney General.

Of course, you should feel free to discuss your own readings and
observations on this historic election.

The group meets in the parlor of the Religious Education building next to
the church at 9:30 on Sunday mornings. We will finish in time to attend
the candle lighting ceremony in the courtyard for the Day of the Dead, or
you can watch the service from the parlor on Zoom.

We especially mourn the passing of Ron Temley, a long-time supporter and
participant in the Today’s Issues group as well as other church activities.
