[Fuusm-l] The June 2020 plant sale is live!

Dear FUUSM family:


Here is the catalog for this year's very different plant sale. Because of the virus and the difficulty of effective social distancing at an event as popular as our usual sale is, we made the decision to scale down and offer online presales only to members and friends of FUUSM. “Friends” here would include friends with whom you want to share the catalog. Because this year's sale is so different, here is how it works.

  1.  All orders must be e-mailed to Al Tuttle (aetuttle at hughes.net<mailto:aetuttle at hughes.net>), keeper of the catalog. He will process the plant requests in the order in which they are received. Please use the item number from the catalog listing and the name of the plant. Use “FUUSM June Plant Sale Order” as the subject of the email.

  2.  You will receive an e-mail listing the plants in your order and the total sale amount. You will also receive a “bidder number” since we are using the same app as with the service auction. (This number will help our committee members get the right plants to the right people.)

  3.  The deadline to place an order is 5:00 PM, Thursday, June 4. Note that some things are in very limited supply, so getting your order in early will help you get the plants you want.

  4.  Plants can be picked up on Saturday, June 6, between 10:00 and 2:00 in the church courtyard. If you would like curbside pickup, call 740-358-9646 when you arrive, and we will bring the plants to your vehicle. Just pop the trunk!

  5.  Our volunteers will be masked. We ask that you also wear a mask and observe six-foot distancing from other purchasers if you come into the courtyard.

  6.  In the interest of spreading as few germs as possible, we are accepting checks or exact change only (unless you want to make an extra donation to the buildings and grounds fund, which will be accepted with great gratitude).

  7.  Since this year's rain is causing some plants to proliferate, it may be possible to get more of certain items. If you would like to check availability of a particular plant that you were not able to purchase, please contact Virginia Henthorn (vhenthorn at suddenlink.net<mailto:vhenthorn at suddenlink.net>). The price would be the same as that listed in the catalog.

Something you may notice: we have simplified pricing, with no items priced less than $1 or over $5. A check of the places where many of us buy our plants has found that 4-inch annuals are running between $4.49 and $4.99, with perennials of the same size averaging $5.99. Most of our 4-inch plants are $3, with larger plants going for $5. As you probably know (and we are reminding you anyway), all proceeds go for the upkeep of our historic buildings, so--double beautification, your yard and our church!
