Battle Hymn of the Republic With Variations for the Piano  - Louis Weber
arr. (1851-1931)

published Feb.1862
     [American Civil War:  April 12, 1861 - April 9, 1865]

One can easily imagine a gathering of folks in someone's home in that
historical period, still recovering years later from the Civil War, dressed
in hoop skirts and frock coats, listening to one of their friends play
through this new arrangement, and spending an evening discussing the
aftermath of a devastating conflict.
Recorded during a service in the fellowship hall on the spinet piano which
had gone slightly out of tune, but that seems to add a certain enchantment
or depth to this piece that would be missing on a perfectly tuned
instrument.
