Maybe this was what you meant to send to me? It is apparent that the board didn't communicate its thinking well, and didn't anticipate how people would react. You say this mail was sent to you, but you don't say by whom.
I'm sure you got Cory's email to the congregation saying he is rescinding the offer to AA. I think it is sad, but not worth disrupting the church community over. I hope the AA people can find someplace else.

What about this email that was sent to me?
Dear Cory, Larry Cassidy, who facilitated the AA meetings says they have about 15 participants. There is adequate space in fellowship to physically distance.
We need a source and money for electronic thermometers and perhaps oxygen readers.
We need a specific supply and designated storage space for PPEs and all cleaning supplies.
We need to know Pawnee’s specific cleaning regimen. Has anyone been in contact with Pawnee owner Tedd Szabo?
We need a protocol for follow up after each facility use. How is the board going to decide before Wednesday evening if AA can meet Thursday evening?
Al Tuttle also is providing good resources he’s researching.
Roger
15 participants is more than the 10 that I thought we would allow. And who will be responsible the electronic thermometers and O2 readers?

Bruce,
I'm truly surprised that you are upset. The AA group is the only one that has asked to use the church since the pandemic, it's not like anyone has been turned away. At the board meeting the majority of us thought the compassionate thing would be to allow them to meet because missing a meeting or two can have serious consequences for someone who is struggling with alcoholism. I can't see that church members are harmed, the risk of any of us catching the covid-19 by touching something that they touched is negligible. Whatever risk there is is one that they are taking. I'm sure they are motivated to observe social distancing and all the rest as much as any of us. If there are any groups of church members who want to meet in the church, please have them get in touch with the board. So far as I know, everybody is more comfortable waiting a bit.

I have been following this email. First off, I am upset for so many reasons not just what is happening in my UU church. To make sure I am clear -- the physical building that I am supporting by my financial support of the UU organization that I am currently not able to use for church business / activities is being offered for use by outside organizations that are not complying with the recommended guidelines. For me this does not seem right. What am I to do? I guess I need to reevaluate the position?

Hello all FUUSM members,
Please sign your name when your reply. Its hard to keep track of who is saying what. Bruce & I did not attend the zoom board meeting, but we appreciate the concerns Annie Warmke has raised below. It seems like members of the church are cancelling our events at FUUSM & our committees & discussion groups are meeting via zoom, etc …..., but we are opening events to outside groups without compliance of best practices.

I would like to know too, Annie.
Could we please have a detailed statement from the Board of Trustees about opening our facilities. Thank you.

Maybe I missed something but going into the board meeting last week it
seemed like people in general didn't want to open up the church or
social hall yet. Then this week I see that it's happening, and from the
looks of things it seems like the visits from people are not under the
control of some sort of protection routine. I wrote a note listing
criteria for this prior to the board meeting. Jay and I canceled
holding the solar installer classes in the building out of realistic
safety concerns (although I think he implied in a note that it was the
board's decision). I also thought there was a task force forming to
determine the best way to proceed - and I volunteered to serve on that
but have heard nothing. What's up folks?
