The board voted at the last meeting to allow AA to meet at this time. The decision was not an easy one to make and was ultimately decided due to the nature of the group and the increased need for them to meet due to additional stressors at this time and having no means to meet due to covid-19. The board discussed what guidelines this group would have to follow and I myself was gathering additional information and sending it to Chris in the office to then forward to the group to ensure that they were following our guidelines at this time. The board has also voted to form a task force under the direction of Roger Kalter and the safety committee and they will be working on creating further guidelines for not only other groups but the congregation to follow as we open the facility further. Anyone is welcome to be a part of this task force. This decision was not made to favor one group over another or to open facilities and potentially put our congregation at risk, however it was following our principles and allowing those in need to have a safe and discreet place to meet during these troubled times.

There was an email about guidelines sent to everyone that has caused a lot of discussion amongst the congregation and has brought up several points that I was unaware of and has made me re-evaluate the board decision. There were no other groups approved for using the facility and AA was only allowed to use the facility for their weekly meeting if they agreed to our terms. I will be contacting the head of their group and asking that they not hold meetings in our facility until after the task force presents their findings to myself and the board at our regularly scheduled July meeting. After the boards approval we will share that information with the congregation.

If there are further questions concerning groups using the facilities or when the church will start opening up for Sunday services please direct those to Cory Sampson at csamp1993 at gmail.com or 740-336-0905. Thank you
