Green Sanctuary Announces Plans for a Special "Just Lunch" at Blue Rock Station
Annie and Jay Warmke have invited any and all who enjoy Green Sanctuary's potluck "Just Dinners" to join them for a "Just Lunch" at Blue Rock Station on Saturday, May 18, at 1:00 p.m. Blue Rock Station is the Warmkes' home and sustainablility center, located on 40 acres at 1190 Virginia Ridge Road, Philo, Ohio, about an hour-and-a-half drive from Marietta. Carpool groups will depart from FUUSM by 11:30 a.m. So, plan your "just" contribution to the potluck meal  (Please note: Annie advises that there is a no alcohol/no smoking policy at Blue Rock Station.), and let the Green committee know you'd like to join us for this special event. After the meal, Annie and Jay will show folks many of the sustainable ideas they have incorporated in their Earthship home. *What Is a Just Dinner (or Lunch)? Here's how Dawn Hewitt, GSC Chair describes it: It’s a meal made with love—of the Earth, and all the plants and animals that dwell upon it (including the farmers, harvesters, shippers, etc.). It’s a meal prepared consciously and conscientiously. We try to prepare dishes that are virtuous environmentally or socially or ethically (but, of course, each cook has different values, and that’s okay!). Ingredients might be local, organic, vegetarian, vegan, home-grown, humanely raised and slaughtered, fair-trade, free-range, cage-free, something with a tiny carbon footprint …. or some combination of the above—or just one of the above, or something else entirely different! Thinking about the social and environmental impacts of the food we eat, and making grocery shopping and gardening choices based on our values, and then sharing the food and our thoughts with others over a delicious meal—that’s a Just Dinner.
