FUUSM Family,

Unitarian Universalism is very different from traditional religions. Our
approach to theology, our worship services, our shared ministry, our
inclusiveness toward a variety of people and religious beliefs, our
activism for social justice ….. in all these aspects we are different,
sometimes markedly so. No wonder that it’s not easy for newcomers, often
with backgrounds in traditional religion, to figure out how to be a UU.

The New UU series is meant to help newcomers, new members, and new friends
negotiate through these differences and find their way of fitting in. If
you are new to Unitarian Universalism, we highly recommend that you attend
this course. This series is a way for new people to learn what Unitarian
Universalism is and some of the issues involved in being a UU . We will be
covering such topics as theology, UU history, worship, religious education,
spiritual practice, social justice, governance and polity, and membership.
Those who have taken this series found that it was very helpful.

We will be trying this series in a new format … 4 sessions from 9:30-11a.m.
on Sundays from July 14 through August 4. If you need child care, please
let us know in advance so we can make arrangements. Drop-ins are welcome,
but we really recommend attending the whole series. Contact Darryl Ting if
you have any questions.
