FUUSM Family,

A New UU course, intended for newcomers, is scheduled from Jan. 19 through
Mar. 15 … Sundays, 9:30 – 11am, in the Fellowship Hall.

Many newcomers come to us with previous experiences in traditional
religions and don’t quite know how to fit into our very different UU
approach to religion. This course is specifically designed to help those
new to Unitarian Universalism understand just that. Newcomers who have
taken this course tell us it was very helpful. So if you are a newcomer,
this is for you. And if you know a newcomer, encourage them to attend.

Below is a listing of the course schedule. There will be handouts
available for all the sessions, so you can pick them up if you miss one.
But we strongly encourage you to attend all the sessions you can. The
discussions during the sessions are important to moving from information to
understanding.

1/19 Introduction. Course Guidelines & Schedule; Sharing of Personal
Journeys.

1/26 Theology. UU Approach to Theology; UU in Practice

2/2 UU Evolution … Our Journey from Roots to Now

2/9 Spirituality ... Beyond Religion

2/16 Worship … Religious Diversity

2/23 Religious Education … Religious Diversity

3/1 Social Justice … Political Diversity.

3/8 Governance & Covenant … Diversity Between and Within Congregations

3/15 Participation … Personal Involvement

            Wrap Up … What Next.

I will be the facilitator for the course. We will be meeting in the
Fellowship Hall, from

9:30 to 10:45AM. If you need child care, please let us know ahead of time
so we can

make arrangements for child care staff.

We encourage newcomers to attend this course and look forward to helping
you on your

UU journey.
