[Fuusm-l] Marietta City Schools Levy

Dear FUUSM Members & Friends, 
An informational meeting regarding the school levy has been scheduled for Tuesday, September 10, at 7 pm in the Unitarian Church fellowship hall. Representatives from the levy committee and/or the school board will be in attendance to answer questions and present an overview of the plan to build a K - 12 campus adjacent to Washington State College.  Taxes are estimated to increase by approximately $187 per hundred thousand dollars of your property value. 
There is enough land to include a gymnasium to accommodate indoor sports, but high school football will continue to be played at Marietta College, at a cost of $35,000. Other outdoor sports will continue to be played at various fields located throughout the city. 
A new road at the intersection of Glendale and Colegate is proposed to handle the increased flow of traffic to and from the campus, but many residents of the area have questions regarding the safety and efficiency of such a plan. 
Wendy Brewer, who is serving as public liaison for the levy committees, has asked for an approximate number of attendees.  If you have questions and are interested in attending, please let me know.
