> The Reverend Dr. Liz Theoharis is Co-Chair of the Poor People’s
> Campaign: A National Call for Moral Revival with the Rev. Dr. William J. Barber II. She is the Co-Director of the Kairos Center for Religions, Rights, and Social Justice and a Founder and the Coordinator of the Poverty Initiative.

> She has spent the last two decades with grassroots, community-led, anti-poverty organizations working to build the movement to end poverty. In her latest book, "Always with Us? What Jesus Really Said About the Poor," she argues that being poor is not inevitable and that a theology that suggests otherwise has stifled the growth of a transformative movement to end poverty. She will is joining us to discuss the work of the Poor People’s Campaign and what it will take to confront, organize, and overcome the evils of our time.
> Rev Dr Theoharis has focused her ministry on working with and advising grassroots organizations with significant victories including the Coalition of Immokalee Workers, the Vermont Workers Center, Domestic Workers United, the National Union of the Homeless and the Kensington Welfare Rights Union. She has led hundreds of trainings and workshops; spoken at dozens of conferences and keynote presentations across the US and globally; and published articles and book chapters sharing her vision that poverty can be ended and that the poor can be agents of social change. She has been published in Time Magazine, The Guardian, Sojourners, The Nation, The Christian Century, and others. She is an ordained minister in the Presbyterian Church (USA).

> • Mary Aguilera, Coordinating Committee of the Ohio Poor People’s Campaign: A National Call for Moral Revival
> With a U.S. economy that has been described by many as the healthiest ever, we nevertheless have 140 million poor people. This workshop will examine what is poverty in the United States and how we as a nation have chosen to address those who are poor both historically and currently. We will then discuss how we can combat poverty in our communities, statewide and nationally.
> Mary is an educator who has worked at the Cincinnati Public Schools' Academy of Multilingual Immersion Studies for 18 years. Her passion is taking every opportunity to work as a community builder, using social justice to help build capacity for a beloved community. She is on the Coordinating Committee for the Ohio Poor People’s Campaign: A National Call for Moral Revival. She serves on multiple coalitions in the Cincinnati area. She recently returned to school to obtain a degree in Organizational Leadership/ Nonprofit Track at Union Institute & University.

> SPAN Ohio advocates for a single payer universal health care system that meets human rights standards.

> This workshop will examine the human rights principles of universality,equity, participation, transparency and accountability and how they relate to our current health care system. It will show how our present health care system does not meet human rights standards and what needs to change to meet those standards. Presenters will draw from personal experiences and work to balance the iron triangle of public health: Access, Cost and Quality. Dr. Cotton will speak from personal experience as an ER doctor in an urban hospital. And presenters will review how injustice in healthcare is related to the issues of poverty, homelessness, economic injustice, and anti-racism.

> Ready for Justice in Youngstown: How to be Purposeful in Congregational Justice Ministry
> • Gary Davenport, Justice Ministry Coordinator for the 1st UU Church of Youngstown, UUJO board member, former professional community organizer
> This workshop will explore the purpose and execution of justice ministry at 1st UU Youngstown in the last few years, which has a rich history of engagement in advocacy, education, direct service, and direct action. It will serve as an example of how a congregation can serve and mobilize its members in engaging social issues. Participants will be asked to evaluate their goals and desires for their own justice ministry or ministries.
> As a professional community organizer, Gary Davenport organized resident campaigns to hold lenders accountable for properties in foreclosure throughout Ohio. In his capacity as a Commissioned Lay Ministry candidate for the Central East Region, he offers trainings in community-organizing skills. He serves as coordinator of the Social Justice Ministry at First UU Church of Youngstown.
> The Promise and the Practice
> • Samuel Prince, Member of the Black Lives UU Organizing Collective and Chair of the UUJO Board of Directors.
> This workshop will describe and discuss how UU congregations can support the Promise and the Practice. Since BLUU’s founding in 2015, the UUA has promised to assist Black Lives UU (BLUU) in exploring social & racial justice within the Faith – creating a space for further spiritual and theological development for Black UUs.
> Throughout history, Black prophetic voices have expounded on a justice that combats poverty and creates liberation for those who are marginalized. In this way, the creation of a faith that speaks to equity and freedom is uplifted and given its rightful place.
> Samuel Prince has served as co-chair of the Oberlin UU Fellowship Board and in several other congregations as chair of both Adult Religious Education/Faith Development and the Anti-Racism Team. > • Rev Susan Ritchie, minister North UU Congregation of Lewis Center, OH and volunteer with Horizon Prison Ministry
> • Pam Patsch, Volunteer Coordinator for Horizon Prison Initiative at The Ohio Reformatory for Women.
> • Mary Kerns, Director of the Horizon faith-based program at the Ohio Reformatory for Women in Marysville, Ohio.
> As persons engaged in a prison ministry, we will explore the intersectionalities of oppression that perpetuate mass incarceration, what how this ministry has changed our understanding of privilege both as individuals and members of a UU congregation, and ways in which people and groups might support this vulnerable population. We will explicitly examine how incarceration is often the result of intersectional oppressed identities, especially of gender and class.

She has a PhD in school psychology and served as a school psychologist for Worthington Schools for 28 years. Since retiring in 2012, she has served as the Social Action Committee chair at North Unitarian Universalist Congregation, was a member of the Executive Board for Unitarian Universalist Justice Ohio, serves on the Columbus Interfaith Council, and chaired the Northwest Earth Institute courses for Simply Living, a sustainability organization in Columbus. Mary Kerns is the, Director of the Horizon faith-based program at the Ohio Reformatory for Women in Marysville, Ohio. She is a graduate of the Methodist Theological School in Ohio.
