[Fuusm-l] Weekend Update for MOV-MCF

FUUSM Friends & Neighbors
This will be a hot and busy weekend- stay hydrated and have a plan to protect yourself and others from the heat.
I will be offering the Invocation this evening Fri. June 15 (6pm) at the Main Stage as part of the Opening Ceremony of the MOV Multi Cultural Fest at Parkersburg City Park.  Funky Friday music includes MojoFlo 6:30pm & Swift Technique 8:15pm
 Sat. Schedule includes various dance, drumming, fire & acrobats.....*I'm curious about Backporch Alibi @ 4:45pm  noted as Hawaiian/Appalachian/Rock  (what's that?!)   - I imagine some ukulele will be part of it – Rev. Kat
Sunday June 17th    
“Today's Issues” discussion group will meet in the FUUSM Parlor in Marietta as usual (9:30-10:30am) 
No BRIDGES Adult RE (10am) this week (6/17) or next (6/24).    Discussions around “The Other” have been interesting.
Gathering at the Multi Cultural Fest in Parkersburg City Park (Shelter #11 near the playground) confirms our U.U. presence in Wood County and our commitment to celebrations of diversity.    This is a great opportunity to invite friends and neighbors to meet FUUSM folks at the picnic, and learn about our values and programs.
 *Bring a dish to share and your own table service (to wash at home).    Folding Chairs are useful- I'll bring our hand fans, banner, table cloths, coolers with ice & sound system.  We will also be recycling as usual. Help with set-up & cleaning up afterward will be welcome. 
FUUSM has a short service @ 10am - Celebrate Diversity!      Picnic Brunch starts @ 10:30am.  Child care will include supervised play with Nodai at the nearby playground.
Green Sanctuary Meeting has shared reports and updates by email, and will meet at the Shelter #11 (near 11:30am, after eating) to confirm next steps on the many projects they're working on. 
 (12-Noon)  Interfaith Prayer Service for the MOV MCF at the Main Stage. presented by Rev. Kat Hawbaker (UU),   Carol Sedgwick (Baha'i), and Steve Peck (Universal Catholic)
 SPECIAL NOTE - DID YOU KNOW?   Next Weekend- Sat. June 23 is the Parkersburg Pride Family Picnic @ the Parkersburg City Park.   Plan to support this community event for GLBTQ families and allies.    As a Welcoming Congregation- we can go to where the people are, not just welcome them when they come to FUUSM. Show Our Pride!  It's who we are and what we stand for. 
Water your plants for the Plant Sale!   on Sunday June 24 (1-5pm)
 Rev. Hawbaker will be traveling on Monday to Kansas City, MO. attending UUMA Ministry Days (Tues./Wed.)  & UUA General Assembly (June 21-24).  She'll be on vacation to visit family the following week, returning for the July 1st Sunday Service.
-Be sure to watch the General Assembly live-streaming events, etc.    FUUSM Sunday Morning Service will show the UUA General Assembly Morning Worship on Sunday June 24 @ 10am in the Social Hall.
