First Unitarian Universalist Society of Marietta will be hosting The Mystical Arts of Tibet tour
for the Mid Ohio Valley Multi Cultural Festival in Parkersburg (June 16, 17, 18, 2017).
This tour brings 11 Tibetan Buddhist monks from Drepung Loseling Monastery in India to share their ancient Tibetan spiritual tradition and culture while promoting peace and healing on their world tours. www.mysticalartsoftibet.org
A Tibetan mandala is a tool for gaining wisdom and compassion and generally is depicted as a tightly balanced, geometric composition wherein deities reside. The principal deity is housed in the center. The mandala serves as a tool for guiding individuals along the path to enlightenment. Why do monks make sand mandalas?
According to Buddhist scripture, a mandala transmits positive energies to the environment and to those who view it.
The monks invoke the mandala's deities through meditation and chanting and then ask for their healing blessings.
