Sadness Touches our Community
One of the long-time stalwart members of our congregation, Caroline Putnam died at home today Saturday Nov. 12, 2016. She appreciated this bright & beautiful autumn day, like many she enjoyed while growing up in New England. She was a naturalist, a gardener and a nature lover.
A leader with the congregation and numerous community groups, like the League of Women Voters, (she did proudly vote in this election), Caroline Putnam was a role model to many. She was a scientist, teacher/tutor, musician, and more, and she delighted in the students who remembered her fondly when they saw her in the grocery store. Caroline & husband, Bob Putnam (who died in March 2011) were active in so many aspects of F.U.U.S.M. life- in leadership, on the Board, the Airplane Contest, Empty Bowls, and the Garden Tour. They lived in their Devola home (50 years) and raised their kids and grandchildren, and numerous 4 legged ones there on Alden.
Plans for a memorial service await the family's wishes, and we join them in sharing stories and memories of this lovely lady who touched our lives and leaves a loving legacy among the autumn leaves.
All Blessings, Rev. Kathryn Hawbaker
