> The center speaker on the Sanctuary has not worked for some time. We thought we eliminated the sound system as the culprit early on, but were apparently mistaken. The technician who came to talk about installing a “Loop” hearing assist system, checked our problem and found that an amplifier in the sound board was NOT working. We have not checked about repair because the system is getting old, and may need to be replaced to work properly with the Loop system anyway. We have temporarily connected the center speaker to the output that did go to the speakers on the right side of the sanctuary. They are now unplugged. We feel the center and right speakers sounds better to more of the sanctuary now, but this may depend on where one sits, and if there are too many complaints about how it sounds now, we can easily switch them back. This is all just a temporary fix until the system is either repaired or replaced. Ralph and I do not feel comfortable making that decision. The cost range is pretty wide.

> In the downstairs Hall, the portable sound system has developed static on one of the output channels. The main problem is that if the static is coming out of the speaker where I am trying to record, it appears on the recording. Our solution was to swap the speakers so that the static is coming out of the system speaker nearest the human speaker. We’ve had no feedback on how many people or even the human speakers find this disturbing or irritating, but we only tried this last Sunday and Beth C may have thought all that static was normal. The static is not currently loud enough to be annoying beyond 15-20 ft. A system similar to the one we have can run anywhere from $180 to $600.

> We would hope that these expenditures can be considered no later than next year's budget, but as electronics only ever get worse, never better, we would like everyone to be aware that they may become emergency expenditures at any time.
