George, I'm not sure specifically what Steve was responding to, but one of
the City of Marietta water wells located at the Wash. Co. Fairgrounds is
contaminated, I think by dry cleaning fluid. The water that is still pumped
from the contaminated well is released 24-7 into the Muskingum River at the
Fairgrounds and is visible from Gilman Avenue. These fresh water wells
(five in total I think) supply all or most of Marietta's drinking water.
I'm sure others know more of the history and details of this situation.
